Day 6.
The night was very stormy and the waves were still high on the Loch. We managed to get on to the water and headed into the river entrance. We were now nearing Inverness on the east side of Scotland. At the weir where the River Ness is diverted away from the canal, we stopped and dragged the boats down the weir into the river. There were lots of fly fishermen standing in the river in their waders so we had to take care to avoid them otherwise they may not have been very pleased to be rammed by a canoe. There were several fast flowing sections to navigate but eventually we came under the bridges and right into the centre of Inverness at about 12 noon. A foraging party was sent to purchase celebratory fish and chips, whilst we waited for the tide to turn to give us a good sea passage; we had made it!
